Trails at Franklin Parker Preserve
A quarter of the NJ land is covered by the pine barrens in the most densely populated state. The red trail is marked with NJCF red diamond trail markers. This trail is a 6.0-mile loop through pine barren forest and swamps, with some sections of sandy roads through bogs. The view is very pleasant and beautiful on an autumn sunny day, comparable to the winter wetlands in Everglades National Park.

Note that after rain, the small trails are sometimes muddy and blocked by bushes. Therefore, a full loop is challenging.

From the Speedwell entrance, the white and yellow trails are next to the Bald Eagle Lake, where you can see bald eagles and the great white herons soaring in the sky. There are far fewer parking spots and few visitors in the south area.
