Sierra Nevada in Summer
Spent a week at Granada in Spain during the 2024 summer break, and went on a day trip to hike Sierra Nevada Mountains. These mountains are the backdrop of the magnificent Alhambra Palace.
Sierra Nevada is a popular ski resort, to which there are daily shuttles from Granada in Winter. However, in Summer, only one bus operates once daily. We took a taxi there that day, and caught the bus on the way back.
The trails are well maintained. There were few people on the vast mountains, so we freely roamed where ever we liked to be.
Glaciers were visible on the mountain tops even in the hot summer. A pretty stream runs down with cool water melted from glaciers.
A ranch at the foothill.

This place hosted Winter Olympic Game. It has a Astronomy Observatory, the highest one in Europe at 2896m (9,501 ft). We enjoyed a lunch break with tapas here.
Wild horses and goats enjoying the cool ice patches down in the valley
During the week, we also visited Alhambra Palace and Royal Chapel, walked around downtown Granada, visited Malaga, and enjoyed seafood (our favorite dishes include tapas, grilled Octopus with potato, and grilled Sardine)
